KYAH POWERS
Governor

Class of 2026, B.S. in Political Science and B.S. in Philosophy with an Environmental Studies Minor
Hometown: Tri-Cities, TN
Kyah will be serving as Governor of the 56th General Assembly of the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature. She previously served as a representative in the 53rd and 54th General Assembly, following with a term as Speaker of the House of Representatives of the 55th General Assembly.
Kyah enjoys supporting her community as a scholar in East Tennessee State University’s Undergraduate Research Honors Program for Philosophy and the Roan Scholars Leadership Program, and after serving a term in her SGA, has set her sights on community outreach. Kyah has been part of a number of public service initiatives, including international work in children’s services in Indonesia, studying abroad in Bolivia to cultivate fair-trade learning principles, and working in disaster recovery in Appalachia, while also employed as a Youth Engagement Professional at Coalition for Kids. Most recently, Kyah was awarded a grant for policy advocacy surrounding efforts to end addiction in the state, and she has since been working to establish funding for recovery community centers (RCCs) with a local RCC partner. Formerly, she has also collaborated with her local Chamber of Commerce to connect business leaders with leaders of the upcoming generation and has served as an intern with Hunter, Smith, & Davis LLP during her time in college. In her spare time, Kyah finally enjoys performing as a vocalist in various capacities and a flautist in the ETSU Symphony Winds Ensemble.
Kyah aspires to attend law school and receive a joint PhD in Ethics after receiving her undergraduate degrees, so that she can complete a career focused on public service and advocacy on the national and international levels, specifically focusing on mitigating issues of human rights with environmental policy. She hopes to continue her work abroad in the coming summer, or to make a difference with the voices of the Nation’s capital.
GRACE OLSON

Class of 2027, Politics and Sustainability Double Major with a Minor in Business
Hometown: Nashville, TN
Grace Olson will be serving as the Secretary of State for the 56th General Assembly. This will be her fifth year at TISL and first year serving on the Executive Council. Grace served as a Page from MLK Magnet high school at the 52nd and 53rd General Assembly, Clerk & Marshall at the 54th General Assembly, and a Senator at the 55th General Assembly.
At Sewanee, Grace serves as a Senator in the Student Government Association, Secretary of Women in Business, a Carey Business Fellow, a Sustain Sewanee Newsletter Editor, and is President of the Sewanee TISL delegation.
Upon graduation, Grace intends to get her Master’s in Journalism. From there, she hopes to work for a sustainability focused think tank or run for public office.
GREG FORD
Attorney General
Carson-Newman University
Class of 2026, Major in Political Science & a Minor in Law and Policy
Hometown: Nolensville, Tennesse
Douglas will be serving as the Attorney General of the Tennessee Intercollegiate Supreme Court for the 56th General Assembly. This will be his second year at TISL and his first year serving on the Executive Council. Douglas has previously served as a Magistrate in the AMC3 competition in the 55th General Assembly.
At Carson-Newman University, Douglas has served three terms in the Student Government Association as a delegate his Freshman and Sophomore years and currently as the Secretary of Projects and Services. He is devoted to use his position in making a difference within the student body. He has also served as a representative in the Model United Nations SRMUN competition. Outside of college, Douglas works at Taylor Farms in business development, learning all aspects of the business side of the largest processed produce company in North America.
After graduating from Carson-Newman University, Douglas plans to attend law school to pursue a career in corporate business law and eventually a political career.
ELI TIDWELL
Lt. Governor and Speaker of the Senate

Class of 2025; B.S. in Computer Science, Conc. Data Science and AI; B.S. in Mathematics
Hometown: Spring Hill, TN
Eli will be serving as the Speaker of the Senate and Lieutenant Governor for the 56th General Assembly. He previously served as Chief Clerk of the Senate for the 55th General Assembly, Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate for the 54th General Assembly, Deputy Chief Clerk of the Senate for the 53rd General Assembly, and a Representative for the 52nd General Assembly. This year will be his fifth and final TISL, his second year on the Executive Council, and his third consecutive year on the Legislative Council.
At Tennessee Tech, Eli is serving as the Attorney General in the Student Government Association, a position he has held for three years, after first serving as a Senator for two years. Eli has also held various student organization officer positions throughout his time at Tech. Eli had the honor of serving as one of the inaugural student members of the Tennessee Tech Foundation Board of Directors.
Eli currently works as a intern for the Upper Cumberland Development District (UCDD). Upon graduating, he plans to work in a data analytics role for the Department of Defense.
CARMEN WITT
Speaker Pro Tem of the Senate

Class of 2026, B.S. in Political Science and Public Service conc. Public Law with a minor in History
Hometown: Memphis, TN
Carmen Witt will be serving as the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Senate for the 55th General Assembly. This will be her fourth year at TISL and first year serving on the Executive Council. In previous years, Carmen had served as a Senator to represent UTC.
At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Carmen has been a member of UTC’s TISL leadership, including being a head delegate this year. She is also a member of the Pre-Law Society and has done work with the Honors College. Outside of school, Carmen works for the Shelby County Department of Parks and Recreation.
After graduating, Carmen hopes to either attend law school or pursue a career working as a legislative analyst for the government.
WILL BOWEN

Will Bowen is a senior at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. This upcoming year will be his fourth year attending TISL, and first as a member of the Executive Council. In his third year, UTK’s House delegation won the ‘Best House Delegation’ award at TISL. Will is scheduled to graduate in December 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Outside of TISL, Will serves as the Political Affairs Director for the Tennessee College Democrats, and as the President of the Tennessee Young Democrats. He is also a Board of Governors member of the Knox County Democratic Party. After college, Will intends to work in Tennessee state government.
HARRISON SIMPSON

Information Assurance and Cybersecurity
Harrison Simpson is a senior at Tennessee Technological University, where he serves as its Student Body Vice President and studies Information Assurance and Cybersecurity. Prior to his term as Student Body Vice President, he served two terms in the SGA Senate, where he tackled critical issues like accessibility and mental health with his colleagues. He oversees the logistics of the SGA Senate and aims for its members to feel comfortable writing legislation, talking to administrators, and leading the constant betterment of his campus. Harrison leverages his outgoing personality, solution-oriented mindset, and unending determination to better the world around him wherever he possibly can. When Harrison is not advocating for his peers and friends, you can find him playing pickleball at the Burn, studying, or going for a late-night run around campus.

At Tennessee Tech, Kelsey serves as the SGA President, Panhellenic Vice President, and as a Trailblazer, serving as a tour guide for the University. She enjoys meeting new students and staff and ensuring that they have nothing less than a positive experience at Tennessee Tech. Kelsey looks forward to strengthening the lobbying program at TISL and showcasing the importance of the position.

Communications Director

Communication Studies with a minor in Human Rights and Global Citizenship
Macy Miller, will be serving as the 56th General Assembly Communications Director. She has served as TISL Communications Deputy Director for the past two years and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect that goes into TISL Media. Macy is a sophomore at East Tennessee State University majoring in Communication Studies with a minor in Human Rights and Global Citizenship as part of the ETSU Honors College Global Citizen Program. Apart from her studies at ETSU, she is Co-Director of a new organization called Young Professionals On Campus, a Student Government Senator, and an Orientation Leader. Upon graduation, Macy hopes to work in the Public Relations field with a focus on marketing.
MILIND CHATURVEDI

Class of 2027, Finance and Math Double-Major with a Minor in Entrepreneurship
Hometown: Johnson City, TN
Milind Chaturvedi will be serving as the State Treasurer for the 55th General Assembly. This will be his second year at TISL. Prior to this Milind served his first year at TISL as a legislator in the House. At East Tennessee State University, Milind serves in the Entrepreneurship Club, Students of Finance Association, Economics Club, American Marketing Association, and the Muslim Student Association. Outside of school, Milind is an Audit Intern with KB Charitable Trust and enjoys serving the best breakfast East Tennessee has to offer at his wonderful local soup kitchen on Saturday mornings.
Once Milind obtains his bachelor's at East Tennessee State University in Finance and Math, he plans to further his education and get an MBA and, after, pursue a Masters in Pure Mathematics followed by a PHD in the same field. He hopes to provide value as a Quantitative Analyst and as a hobbyist-mathematician.
